In addition, the emotional and social benefits are immeasurable.

PHYSICAL EDUCATION (THE RULES OF SPORTS)

Sports have many rules that must be understood if one is to play with others across the globe. For example, understanding football and how it is played is a universal language. Sports participation offers health and fitness advantages and teaches young children the skill of cooperation and life lessons about winning and losing.

ARTS AND CRAFTS

Our Arts and Crafts sessions are about having a go, being inspired by the world around them will encourage our children to develop their own ideas and creativity. The activities involve experimenting with different tools and materials. We use many different techniques to create sculptures, paintings and collages. Art is the perfect vehicle for self-exploration and self-expression. It is amazing to see the wealth of creativity we have within our little community!

COOKING – Cold Food Preparation

During this activity, children prepare cold snacks such as sandwiches, salads, milkshakes and different types of drinks. Learning to cook your own food fosters independence and pride. We also discuss which foods that benefit your body and how a healthy body works. Cooking is a calming and fun activity, which promotes the exploration of numerous academic concepts. In cooking, the child interacts many different learning concepts associated with math and science and has the opportunity to expand their vocabulary.

ACTION YOGA (HATHA)

Yoga promotes physical strength as children learn to use all of their muscles in new ways. Whether a pose is done standing, sitting, or lying down, each pose can challenge various muscle groups while helping a child become aware of their body and how it efficiently functions. Yoga enhances physical flexibility and helps children to develop their focus and concentration. It also refines their balancing capabilities while they practice different postures, and it helps to instill confidence and to bring learning to children on an experiential level.

TAEKWONDO

Taekwondo is a Korean martial art that use the “Tae and Kwon” (fist and feet). The children are taught that the movements are used to exercise and not for aggression. It enhances physical fitness, concentration span and self-esteem.

ECOLOGICAL STUDIES

This area relates to the children’s everyday lives, homes, families, the environment, community and the wider world. They learn about their immediate environment by exploration, investigation and discovery through first-hand experiences with nature. These experiences lay the foundation for later, more formal learning about the natural and man-made environments found on our planet.

SWIMMING

(Limited spaces are available to students of all ages filled on a first-come, first-serve basis. A waitlist does apply).

In swimming sessions, our instructors start with simple skills that are gradually built upon as the children grow in ability and confidence. These are balanced with games and other fun activities. Learning how to swim and being encouraged to do so regularly brings significant benefits for health and safety while also encouraging a healthy level of physical and social activity. Swimming uses every major muscle group and is a fantastic aerobic activity to get the child’s heart pumping. Plus, it’s a low-impact activity that increases flexibility, balance, posture and coordination and remains the sport least likely to cause injuries in children. One of the most beneficial parts of swimming is that it teaches the child how to stay safe in and around water.

ROBOTICS (AGES 4 AND ABOVE)

The thought of robotics conjures up many fun images– space exploration, futuristic worlds, sci-fi films, etc. Yet, robotics is not just a distant concept present only in high-tech labs; it is a tangible activity that kids can get involved in even at a young age. This can be hugely entertaining and pave the way for future opportunities. Robotics really exemplifies learning through play. In these sessions, the children will learn through experimenting, building, and playing games. Children will also be introduced to STEM concept. Also, these classes particularly suit kinesthetic learners as we use a hands-on approach.
